Dr. Evers was employed by the Texas Agriculture Research Station in 1970 as a forage physiologist to conduct small plot and grazing research on rice-pastures rotations. In 1974 he was transferred to the Angleton Research Station where his research focus was clover adaptability, establishment, inoculation, fertilization, weed control, and utilization; establishment of warm-season perennial grasses; legume-grass associations; and overseeding warm-season perennial grasses with cool-season annuals. In 1990 Dr. Evers was transferred to the Agricultural Research and Extension Center at Overton where he continued his forage establishment and clover research. He cooperated with plant breeders on the development and release of new annual ryegrass and clover varieties and initialed research on pastures for farming nonnative deer and the safe use of broiler litter as a plant nutrient source for pastures.
